The Ground

After the wooden seated stand at the Church End of the ground was demolished following the Bradford City fire, the ground has rather an imbalanced look, with two big stands and little else on the other two.

The Church End of the ground is hard standing, and a crush barrier has been fitted which has improved this area greatly. On the only side of the ground are three separate sections, the two ‘wings’ are covered terracing with the main seated stand in the centre, with the directors box. Behind the other goal is the ‘Shed End’, a large covered terrace to comfortably accommodate the largest of away supports. The fourth side is the cricket side, and standing is no longer permitted here.

Getting there by car

From the Stourbridge ring road, take the A491 signposted Wolverhampton, and the ground is 300 yards on the left opposite the Royal Oak pub. If you arrive before 2.35pm, unless it is a big game, you should be able to park inside the ground. Drive into the ground through the big brick arch and there should be parking in the ground forecourt. If not, drive on to the gate, and try and park inside the ground – this should be possible if you get there fairly early.

Getting there by train or bus

The main station is Stourbridge Junction, but catch the shuttle to Stourbridge Town to get closer to the ground. Come out of the station to the ring road, and walk forward in the opposite direction to the traffic. Take the second right, and walk up to the traffic lights. Cross the road and continue up to the ground, opposite the Royal Oak pub. Buses 311 and 243 from Dudley and the 256 from Wolverhampton pass the ground.

Visiting Supporters

There is nearly always a very friendly atmosphere at the club and you can expect a warm welcome. There is an excellent club shop where there are a wide range of programmes on sale, plus a good-sized bar with alcohol on sale. Alcohol is permitted out of the clubhouse but only in plastic containers. There is the usual fare of chips, burgers and hot drinks available from the serving hatch – queues form very quickly indeed at half time when there is a large crowd.

Apart from the clubhouse, there is a pub directly opposite the ground entrance, the Royal Oak. Most home fans wanting a pre-match drink now meet in the Mitre Inn at the top of Lower High Street in the town.
